During my first campaign, I made a promise to people in my district that I would be the most accessible, transparent, and accountable Member of the House of Representatives. As U.S. Senator, I’ll stand by these same commitments for our state:
- To hold at least one town hall every month. I have now held over 67 town halls with tens of thousands of participants.
- To refuse all money from corporate PACs because I believe in a government that focuses on people, not corporations. At a time when Members of Congress take millions from corporations, I have kept this promise to not accept corporate PAC money.
- To provide daily reports on what I am working on, who I am meeting with, and how I plan to vote. I have kept this promise to be the most transparent member of Congress.
- To always put people before partisan politics. I will not stand for how toxic our politics have become. I have strived to serve in Congress with respect, integrity, and civility. We are all Americans, and I won’t let us get pulled down into the mud.
Whether you voted for me or not, I work for you. And when I make a promise to you, I keep it, because trust is how we move forward together.
Now more than ever, we need leaders who are honest and hardworking, focused on helping our country rather than on political games. Treating each other with respect and compassion is not a partisan value; it’s an American value. To get America through our current crises, our leaders need to listen, keep their word, and deliver for their constituents. My promise to you is that I will continue to be that kind of leader, and I expect you to hold me to it.
