Highlights from the endorsement include:
Kim has campaigned on a clear message that defends and strengthens America's democratic traditions and institutions as well as our place as a global economic and political power. Kim sees New Jersey as integral to both of those missions — he contends that the state's diversity and its talent position the Garden State to lead.
Kim has also commendably said that, if elected, he would champion valuable and needed reforms while also building new coalitions to address systemic inequalities in our economy and in our society.
The broad focus of our discussion, though, was on Kim's desire to harness America's capacity for innovation and diplomacy to assert our place as a global leader — especially as challenges from China, Russia and other nations continue to increase. To his credit, Kim rejected the America First mentality that has largely gripped a Republican Party commanded by former President Donald Trump… “‘America First' really means 'America Only' on a global scale," Kim told [The Editorial Board].
Kim seeks to champion efforts to bolster American economic and diplomatic efforts that support a globally competitive free market that supports free and democratic societies. On issues of systemic inequality, Kim wants to work to mitigate high prescription drug costs, to address food insecurity and to seek new solutions to provide access to quality housing and health care.
Given his capacity to build coalitions — as we have seen all year in his crusade against the county line — we are confident in Kim's skills to reach across the aisle to find opportunities for progress.
If we embark on the dangerous course of a second Trump term, we believe that Kim will be a steady adult in the room, ready to battle the inevitable crisis and chaos that would follow the former president's return to Washington.
…Kim is filled with a Jersey pride that we found imbued with a work ethic he credits to his immigrant parents. He is calm, collected and ready to serve the Garden State for the challenging years and decades that surely lie ahead.
