Curtis Bashaw Heads to Washington to Collect Big Money from Corporations, Extremist Republicans
MOORESTOWN N.J. - Tomorrow, September 11th, Curtis Bashaw will head to Washington, DC to collect donations at a high-dollar fundraiser hosted by extremist Senate Republicans pushing an agenda to benefit big corporations, the well-off, and the well-connected, while doing nothing to lower costs or fix corruption for New Jersey’s working families.
“Curtis Bashaw isn’t coming to Washington to figure out how to lower costs or make government work better for people; he’s coming to collect corporate cash with extremist Republicans who are simply out-of-touch with New Jersey,” said Congressman Andy Kim.
Bashaw will appear with Senator Daines, the Chairman of the NRSC, and Senators Scott, Tuberville, and Budd, who collectively have worked to put the wants of the super-rich over the needs of working families. Senators Daines and Budd voted for the Trump tax cuts that capped the SALT deduction, harming New Jersey families, while Senator Scott wrote the plan to sunset Social Security and Medicare benefits, which millions of Americans rely on. Senators Ted Budd and Steve Daines have been named to the End Citizens United “Big Money 20” list, for putting corporate interests above their constituents, while they named Senator Rick Scott one of the most corrupt candidates in 2024.
“Unsurprisingly, Curtis Bashaw is cozying up to corporate PACs and MAGA Republicans who put corporate profits ahead of working families,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Instead of addressing the rising cost of living and rampant corruption in government, Bashaw is proving that he’s just another bought-and-paid-for politician. New Jersey families deserve someone like Andy Kim, who has rejected corporate PAC donations since day 1 and will stand up for them in office—not someone who’s looking to cash in on it.”
As a son of immigrants and a graduate from New Jersey public schools, Congressman Andy Kim has been proud to represent his home community in Congress. Andy is a young father of two little boys and represents a new generation of leadership stepping up to fix our broken politics. As a former national security official, Andy previously advised President Obama on counterterrorism and worked for four-star generals in Afghanistan.
Andy went on to win a congressional district that Trump won twice by defeating three consecutive self-funding Republican millionaires. In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families, help support small businesses through challenging times, and has battled House Republicans in the fight to restore protections for women in the aftermath of the 2022 Dobbs decision. Andy is now stepping up to run for Senate to fight against corruption and restore integrity to public service.
