Congressman Andy Kim Meets with Educators, Students and Young Parents as New Jersey Goes Back to School
MOORESTOWN N.J. – As New Jersey students returned back to school, Congressman Andy Kim traveled from Morris to Monmouth today meeting with educators, students, and young parents about the challenges they face and the importance of investing in education.
This afternoon, Congressman Kim visited Head Start of Morris County to tour their facility, hear about the opportunities they offer for their students, and read It’s Okay to Be Different by Todd Parr to one of their classrooms. As a member of Congress, Andy helped secure $1.9 Million in grant money for Head Start projects in Burlington County, and is a founding member of the Congressional Dads’ Caucus which is aimed at advancing policies that uplift working families including paid leave, affordable childcare, and the Child Tax Credit.
“Today’s visit to Head Start of Morris County brought back so many memories for me of reading to my boys when they were little, and reminded me of what is possible when kids are engaged and excited to learn,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “Head Start is doing incredible work to set up their kids for success and their dedication to uplifting every child was evident from the moment I arrived.”
“We were so pleased to welcome Congressman Kim to the Morris County Head Start Center in Dover. Strong federal investments in our youngest, most vulnerable children pay off, not just for the kids, but for their families and the community at large,” said Susan O’Donnell, Chief Executive Officer of Head Start of Morris. “Representative Kim came to listen, learn, and see first-hand the impact that Head Start has on Morris County’s youngest kids, and on our whole community. The children loved their story time with the Congressman today. Thank you, Andy Kim, for your support of Head Start programs!”
Afterwards, Congressman Kim took part in a moderated discussion at Fairleigh Dickinson University where he talked about his path to public service and his dedication to keeping our kids and their generation safe. He ended his night at a Millenials For New Jersey event in Belmar, where he spoke about the need to make housing and childcare more affordable for working families and provide help to young parents across New Jersey.
As a son of immigrants and a graduate from New Jersey public schools, Congressman Andy Kim has been proud to represent his home community in Congress. Andy is a young father of two little boys and represents a new generation of leadership stepping up to fix our broken politics. As a former national security official, Andy previously advised President Obama on counterterrorism and worked for four-star generals in Afghanistan.
Andy went on to win a congressional district that Trump won twice by defeating three consecutive self-funding republican millionaires. In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families, help support small businesses through challenging times, and has battled House Republicans in the fight to restore protections for women in the aftermath of the 2022 Dobbs decision. Andy is now stepping up to run for senate to fight against corruption and restore integrity to public service.
