Congressman Andy Kim Receives Endorsement From The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen in His Race for U.S. Senate
MOORESTOWN N.J. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim announced the endorsement of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen in his race for U.S. Senate. The BLET is North America’s oldest rail labor union, and is a division of the Teamsters Union. The BLET exists to promote and protect the rights, interests, and safety of its members through solidarity, aggressive representation, and education. They represent 900 locomotive engineers, conductors, brakemen, firemen, switchmen, hostlers and other train service employees in New Jersey from freight and passenger rail service.
“BLET members work around the clock to get commuters to their jobs on time and families home for dinner safely, even through these unprecedented times of delays and breakdowns,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “It is imperative that these members have support and proper working conditions to navigate these tough times, and I thank the BLET for trusting me to be a voice for them as we continue to push for improved rail conditions.”
“Our members are thankful to Congressman Andy Kim and we proudly endorse him because he has helped pass legislation to secure $2.8 million in funds for NJ freight rail infrastructure, which will improve supply chains, create more union jobs, and improve rail safety throughout our communities,” said the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen. “Congressman Andy Kim is a true leader, and the labor movement can always count on him. We look forward to working with him in the Senate.”
As a son of immigrants and a graduate from New Jersey public schools, Congressman Andy Kim has been proud to represent his home community in Congress. Andy is a young father of two little boys and represents a new generation of leadership stepping up to fix our broken politics. As a former national security official, Andy previously advised President Obama on counterterrorism and worked for four-star generals in Afghanistan. Andy went on to win a Congressional district that Trump won twice by defeating three consecutive self-funding republican millionaires.
In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families, help support small businesses through challenging times, and has battled House Republicans in the fight to restore protections for women in the aftermath of the 2022 Dobbs decision. Andy is now stepping up to run for senate to fight against corruption and restore integrity to public service.
