VIDEO: Congressman Andy Kim Joined by Fallen Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick’s Family in New Video on the Importance of Protecting Our Democracy
SOUTH RIVER N.J. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim, Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate from New Jersey, released a new video with family members of fallen Capitol Hill Police Officer and New Jersey native, Brian Sicknick, discussing the January 6th attack on the Capitol and the need to fight for Democracy in this November election. A 12 year Capitol Hill Police veteran officer, Sicknick passed away after defending the Capitol from insurrectionists on January 6th, 2021.
Video of the visit can be found here.
“Brian was a patriot who ultimately gave his life after he defended the Capitol on January 6th, a day that should remind us all how fragile our democracy is,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “When Brian’s family reached out to me, I wanted to join them to honor Brian — to let them know I’ll never forget Brian’s bravery. His legacy inspires me and many others to commit our lives to protecting our democracy and country.”
“After the violence [on January 6th,2021] ended with over 100 officers injured and my brother Brian losing his fight and succumbing to his injuries, Andy remained. Like everything else he has done since being elected to represent the Third District of New Jersey, Andy quietly set about trying to help,” said Craig Sicknick, brother of Brian Sicknick. “Quietly compassionate, and driven to help improve our country, he has worked hard to sponsor and promote legislation to help our veterans, our less fortunate, our nation’s education, cybersecurity, ethics, and a host of other issues that help our nation continue to grow. Andy does what a congressman is supposed to do, works to better our country instead of trying to tear it apart. He has done this quietly, diligently, and effectively and will continue to do so as New Jersey’s junior senator. I am proud to endorse Andy Kim for Senate.”
As a son of immigrants and a graduate from New Jersey public schools, Congressman Andy Kim has been proud to represent his home community in Congress. Andy is a young father of two little boys and represents a new generation of leadership stepping up to fix our broken politics. As a former national security official, Andy previously advised President Obama on counterterrorism and worked for four-star generals in Afghanistan. Andy went on to win a Congressional district that Trump won twice by defeating three consecutive self-funding republican millionaires. In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families and help support small businesses through challenging times. Andy is now stepping up to run for senate to fight against corruption and restore integrity to public service.
