Congressman Andy Kim Receives LCVAF Endorsement for his Record Protecting New Jersey’s Environment and Fighting Climate Change
MOORESTOWN N.J. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim announced his campaign for U.S. Senate has been endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund (LCVAF), a national organization dedicated to protecting our environment and electing leaders dedicated to that mission.
“I’ll never forget watching my sons take some of their first steps on Jersey Shore beaches, or camping as a kid in the Pine Barrens. These beautiful, national treasures deserve to be protected for my kids and future generations to enjoy,” said Congressman Kim. “I hope to continue protecting them and working to make sure New Jersey is a state that fights climate change, replenishes our beaches, and protects ecosystems that prop up our shore towns, businesses, and families across New Jersey. I’m grateful for LCVAF’s endorsement, and proud that they see in our campaign a movement that’s focused on people and protecting New Jersey’s beautiful landmarks for generations to come.”
“Representative Andy Kim has fought tirelessly for clean air, water, and energy, the largest investment ever in climate action through the Inflation Reduction Act, to protect our treasures coasts, and to strengthen our democracy throughout his time in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President for Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He is truly a champion for a clean energy future and a more free and fair democracy for all. LCV Action Fund is thrilled to announce our endorsement of Andy Kim for Senate where we know he will continue to be a tremendous leader.”
“Andy Kim has been a critical ally in Congress as New Jersey leads the nation in building our clean energy economy,” said New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Ed Potosnak. “New Jerseyans can be assured that in the Senate he will continue to advocate for protecting our coast, conserving our land, and a more just and equitable clean energy future for our state.”
During his time in Congress, Congressman Kim has been a champion in fighting against climate change and working to keep New Jersey and our country’s environment clean and healthy. He voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act into law, which was the largest investment in climate change mitigation in history. He also supported the CHIPS and Science Act which invested in U.S. manufacturing and in producing clean, green technology and energy efficient products.
In addition to championing legislation to address the climate crisis, Congressman Kim also secured millions of federal dollars for New Jersey through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, including $30.2M for construction to protect Manasquan Inlet to Barnegat Inlet from coastal storms and replenish our beaches and $14.3M for repairs to the NJ Intracoastal Waterway, including repairs for the Point Pleasant Canal bulkhead.
First elected to Congress in 2018 at the age of 36, three-term Congressman Andy Kim is one of the younger members to serve in Congress and is the first Asian American elected to federal office from New Jersey. In 2018 and 2020, Andy defeated two self-funding millionaires in a district carried by former President Trump, going on to vote to impeach Trump twice throughout his presidency. In 2022, Kim defeated his third self-funding millionaire opponent by 12 points.
In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families and help support small businesses through challenging times. Andy has also been a leading champion in fighting against corruption in our broken politics.
