Congressman Andy Kim Wins Morris County Democratic Convention with 85% of the Vote
MOORESTOWN N.J. – This morning, it was announced that Congressman Andy Kim won the Morris County Convention with a massive 75 point margin of victory, receiving 457-57 votes over First Lady Tammy Murphy. Morris County held their convention on Saturday afternoon where Andy received multiple standing ovations during his candidate speech, after which Morris County leaders gave delegates until midnight on Sunday to vote anonymously via virtual portal before tabulating results Monday morning.
"With this massive win in Morris county, we’ve ended this convention season in NJ with a staggering 9 wins,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “Wherever we had an open and fair opportunity, we won with overwhelming margins. Now we are going to bring that momentum to June 4 in all 21 counties.”
Kim won the endorsement with the backing of several grassroots organizations within Morris County, supporting his effort to restore integrity and fight for working families across New Jersey.
"We need leaders like Andy Kim in New Jersey. In the 2020 election, Andy won a Trump district by nearly 8 points, winning a seat that ensured Democrats were able to maintain control of the House and pass critical legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act and the Respect for Marriage Act. And he won without taking a dollar of corporate PAC money,” said Morris County Progressive Caucus Chair Henry Mielarczyk. “Now, Andy is running for Senate to bring integrity back to New Jersey politics. Progressives in Morris County could not be more proud to endorse Andy Kim for Senate."
“In a time of uncertainty, Andy Kim's commitment to transparency reassures us that our voices matter,” said Mt. Arlington Co-Chair Jessica Price. “His track record of accountability speaks volumes about his dedication to public service. Andy Kim embodies the honesty and responsibility we crave in politics. As our senator, he'll steer the Democratic Party, New Jersey, and our country toward a better future.”
“Andy Kim is the right choice for this important Senate race: a candidate with experience, integrity, and a proven track record of advocating for NJ residents in Congress,” said the Pequannock Democratic Committee. “He's shown an unwavering commitment to public service, the strength to defend democracy in the face of unprecedented attacks, and a willingness to work hard to make sure our government works. We are excited by the possibilities and progress Andy Kim will bring to the United States Senate.”
"Members of the Hanover Township Democratic Committee overwhelmingly support the MCDC endorsed candidate, Andy Kim, as the Democratic nominee for US Senate,” said Hanover Democratic Committee Chairs. “We agree that his experience in foreign and domestic affairs as a Congressman for the past 5 years will make him an invaluable member of the Senate. He will be ready to work on day one! Andy is not "politics as usual" as he has integrity and a deep commitment to public service. We are proud to be part of Team Andy!”
First elected to Congress in 2018 at the age of 36, three-term Congressman Andy Kim is one of the younger members to serve in Congress and is the first Asian American elected to federal office from New Jersey. If elected to the Senate, Andy would be the 4th youngest Senator, the first senator from South Jersey in recent memory, and the first Asian American elected to the Senate from the entire east coast of America. In 2018 and 2020, Andy defeated two self-funding millionaires in a district carried by former President Trump, and in 2022 Kim defeated his third self-funding millionaire opponent by 12 points.
In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families and help support small businesses through challenging times. Andy has also been a leading champion in fighting against corruption in our broken politics.
