Congressman Andy Kim Announces Endorsement from Mercer County Democratic Progressive Caucus
MOORESTOWN N.J. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim announced the endorsement of the Mercer County Democratic Progressive Caucus (MCDPC). This endorsement comes on the heels of winning both Sussex and Warren County conventions this past weekend and roughly one week before Mercer County delegates, including members of MCDPC, will head to the voting booth for their county convention.
“I’m grateful to the Mercer County Democratic Progressive Caucus for endorsing me. I’m proud to have been a strong voice for progressive values in the House and look forward to taking that fight to the Senate,” said Congressman Andy Kim.
“I am thrilled to be able to cast a vote for Andy at the Mercer Convention because he has been a great advocate for the issues I am most concerned about,” said MCDPC Vice Chair Beth Morgan. “As a senior citizen, I am concerned about the cost of healthcare – he’s been proactive on such things as capping insulin prices and reining in the cost of life saving drugs. As a progressive, I’ve been concerned for years about the New Jersey “county line,” whereby party elites choose who will get favorable placement on the ballot. Andy has come out against the unfair advantage this confers on certain candidates to the extent that he has even instigated a lawsuit against this practice.”
A member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Andy Kim has been a fierce advocate for progressive policies and has been a champion of progressive values. Following the 2022 Dobbs decision, Kim supported and voted for the Women’s Health Protection Act, the Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act, and the Right to Contraception Act. Also in 2022, Andy voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that finally allowed Medicare to negotiate down the cost of prescription drugs, capped insulin costs for seniors on Medicare at $35 per month, and included Andy’s co-written bill that will make sure no senior on Medicare pays more than $2,000 per year for prescription drugs; the IRA also does more to combat climate change than any bill in history.

First elected to Congress in 2018 at the age of 36, three-term Congressman Andy Kim is one of the younger members to serve in Congress and is the first Asian American elected to federal office from New Jersey. If elected to the Senate, Andy would be the 4th youngest Senator, the first senator from South Jersey in recent memory, and the first Asian American elected to the Senate from the entire east coast of America. In 2018 and 2020, Andy defeated two self-funding millionaires in a district carried by former President Trump, and in 2022 Kim defeated his third self-funding millionaire opponent by 12 points.
In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families and help support small businesses through challenging times. Andy has also been a leading champion in fighting against corruption in our broken politics.
