Andy Kim on Early Election Results: “The Democratic Grassroots is Energized”
MOORESTOWN N.J. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim released the following statement on initial results from the 2023 November elections in New Jersey and across the nation.
“While there are still votes to be counted, one thing is clear: the Democratic grassroots is energized and remains an incredible force for change,” said Congressman Kim. “In New Jersey, the energy of the people propelled big wins. We had strong candidates who worked hard to engage the people to show up and vote. Nationwide, we’ve seen abortion rights protected in Ohio, the first woman elected mayor in Philadelphia, Governor Beshear reelected in Kentucky, and promising victories in multiple states. These results are a reminder of what’s at stake in less than a year when voters will again go to the polls. Candidates who represent Democratic values, who ran on putting people ahead of the powerful, and who fought for integrity in public office won, and we can win again if we hold true to those values.”
Congressman Andy Kim was first elected to Congress in 2018 and is the first Asian American elected to federal office from New Jersey. In 2018 and 2020, Andy defeated two self-funding millionaires in a district carried by former President Trump, and in 2022 Kim defeated his third self-funding millionaire opponent by 12 points. In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked to deliver improved health care for veterans, relief for homeowners suffering from Superstorm Sandy, and has been a leader in strengthening congressional ethics and getting money and its corrupting influence out of politics.
Andy currently lives in Moorestown with his wife, Kammy, and their two sons, August and Austin.
