New Jersey is my home, and now I’m raising my two troublemaking little boys just down the road from where I grew up. I’m fighting for my family, for my neighbors, for the community that raised me, and for working families in pursuit of the American Dream.

My Story

New Jersey is the state that welcomed my two immigrant parents, the state that raised me, the state that gave me a chance to give back as a member of Congress representing the place where I grew up, and the state I will work every day to make proud as a United States Senator.

Now more than ever, our country needs hardworking, trustworthy leaders focused on the common good, bringing integrity into our politics, and bringing people together. Together, we can create an America where democracy, civility, trust, and respect flourish – and that’s exactly what I aim to do in the Senate.

We have a lot of work to do, and I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure New Jerseyans are given a fair chance and will fight for legislation that defends our American values and rights.

My parents taught me that service isn’t just a job, it’s a way of life. Being trusted as an elected official is an honor – an opportunity to serve our community, not a license to line your pockets for political favors. I’ve made ending government corruption a core value of my work in Congress.

Ending Corruption

Whether you voted for me or not, you're my boss, I answer to you. I believe that we all need to work together, regardless of party, to get things done for the people we represent. Every day, I am keeping my promise to put people before partisan politics and to treat everyone with respect and civility.

People Over Politics

When I worked in the Situation Room or as a civilian advisor in Afghanistan to four-star generals, no one asked me if I was a Democrat or Republican. I served my country. In Congress, I’ve never lost sight of who I’m serving, and I’m always looking for ways I can contribute to make America work for everyone.

My Promise

When I was in elementary school, my mother took me to Washington, D.C. so I could understand why she had chosen to leave South Korea and create a new life in this country. On that trip, she said something I’d never forget: when a country gives you so many opportunities, you need to give back. Now I see success in this job as delivering for you and your family and the country that has given me and my family so much.
